In this post we read two stories that show us our power. In the first the momentum of our habit to think the best we can creates a flow that delivers our wishes easily and promptly. The second account demonstrates the awesome power we have in our self-talk—how we perceive ourselves matters hugely. Enjoy!
Portulaca Paradise
Doralee loved gardening and was sharing her craft with a client this summer. Earlier in the season she had put in portulaca plants and as the summer proceeded, they were thriving! Know what? Delighted, the client wanted more of them. This was a Thursday.
That afternoon Doralee went to the nursery where she had purchased the first ones and found those plants were out of stock. Next day her friend informed her she had seen them in stock at another nursery. D phoned and discovered those plants had been sold and none remained.
Oops! Meanwhile the client bought other plants to substitute. D researched how to propagate portulaca and was still on the trail of finding a way to produce some to spread to other areas of the plot.
Saturday morning begins as a sunny day and our star is off to the local farmer’s market. Excited she buys her produce with a smile. She starts to her car to move on with her day but pauses and walks back to her favorite vendor. He grows exotic plants in addition to veggies. “How do you propagate portulaca?” D asks.
“It’s funny you bring this up today. I have two big hanging pots of portulaca that I have been meaning to prune and thin out. There is a rock garden in my yard, and I plan to move some of that plant to this new bed I am developing. Those hanging containers are very overgrown. There will be plenty to offer you after I use some for the rock wall. Would you like some next week?”
Doralee smiled ear to ear—Wow!! She had gone from no plants out of stock to finding a supply of plenty for this client in less than 48 hours! How cool is that!
Read this story to see the power we have in how we perceive our own power. Notice our self-talk and shift to more potent frame!
Air Filter Reset
Tammy owns a device that filters the air in her upstairs. About every four months there is an indicator light which pops on when the filter needs replacement. Over the time of owning this machine, T has successfully replaced the filter- that part is easy. Often she has some difficulty resetting this indicator light.
It happened this week. Our star slipped in the fresh component and attempted the resetting. Nothing. Try again, Nothing, Try again nothing. Frustration washed through her. GRRR.
This dear woman walked away. A day passed.
When she walked by the device, she had a new thought. Hey What if it is easy to get that indicator light to go off? I recall how good it felt to press firmly with an open paper clip and see that illumination disappear.
“I bet I can do this. It’s easy!” T thought. She grabbed the tool, pressed down and it went out. When she thought it was easy—“magically” it was easy. Very cool! Good to notice!! Let’s hear it for the power of Tammy’s focus!
