We Are Loved All the Time

Many of us were raised with the impression that we had better behave well in order to keep the love coming to us, to receive that attention that nurtures us.

In this blog we are offered another proposition: we are loved all the time without accomplishing a certain goal or acting in any particular behavior. Those who are attending to their growth are reaching more and more to embody this expansive proposition.

On our path when someone may refuse to assist us, may treat us poorly, we may trigger anger and hurt. We are flooded with this kind of thinking: “Did we do something wrong? “ Are we in danger of losing some positive regard, some love by another? These questions are based in the fear rumbles with the anger and hurt.

How To Respond

In such instances, how do we want to respond?

Michael A Singer, author of The Untethered Soul, addresses the question in this paragraph from his work as follows:

“A wise person remains centered enough to let go every time the energy shifts into a defensive mode. The moment the energy moves and you feel your consciousness start to get drawn into it, you relax and release. Letting go means falling behind the energy instead of going into it. It just takes a moment of conscious effort to decide that you not going to go there.  You just let go.

It’s simply a matter of taking the risk that you are better off letting go than going with the energy. When you are free from the hold that the energy has on you, you will be free to experience the joy and expansiveness that exists within you.”[1]

Doreen’s Experience

Doreen asked her partner for a favor. When he shopped at a certain food store, one he frequented each week, could he pick up a certain baked product for her? He refused. Even after she pointed out that he would be there shopping, he continued to shrift off her request.

Doreen felt her temper rise. This was so unfair, mean and hurtful! In her mind our star made a strong case for why this man “should” fulfill her ask.

D consulted Wise Counsel.

WC: We each are in charge of our own inner reactions and our happiness.

Yes, you have a strong case to make for how poorly this man is behaving. Now turn your attention to turning up the light under your own happiness. Your time is better spent focusing on the fun to be had, eh?

D: I am so glad you are reminding me. I will drop the review of the aggravation and get busy with some fun plans.

WC: What a great boon it is indeed to wake up to how loved we are right now—even as this dear person speaks words pinched off from Source Energy. We are not turning to the neighbor for our love (even if a life partner) No! We go direct to the divine presence for that. The Forces of Good are always with us right now.

We are wisest when we “let go” of that emotional response and turn instead to joy and expansiveness available to us.

Doreen absorbed the message of Wise Counsel and enjoyed her next hour. In shopping she found some satisfying pieces of an outfit she is creating for an upcoming event.

Then her phone rang. Her partner called to report that he would do her food shopping in the stores where he would be.
