Personal Power in Healing

We all experience times when a bodily condition slows us down a bit. Many of us feel an urge to keep plugging away and resist this “taking it easy” business. This post articulates the advantages of honoring the healing process and how we can build muscles of greater personal power if we choose.

Luanne’s Story

Luanne had ridden in this rodeo before. She had felt a leg condition coming in, an indication of muscle strain at a mild stage, one that she had previously healed awhile back.

In a few days the condition worsen and produced pain when moved.  L got some energy treatments for it, felt some relief, lifted her spirits. Feeling optimism and energy, our star decided to follow through on a plan to take a walk with a woman friend.  “Gosh,” she thought to herself, “I have cancelled several previous plans, and I really want to make this happen.”

Yes, Luanne enjoyed that visit. No, during the walk she did not watch the time carefully. Her leg started to ache: it had been almost an hour and a half of what was going to be a “take it easy” walk. Oops.

L had resisted the “taking it easy” business—again.  Her leg started to pain her with more gusto. Oh dear our heroine found herself wincing in discomfort when she moved her leg– at all.

We know it is “inconvenient” to experience pain—and we all would admit that it is more challenging to use our personal power under these conditions.

(Duh! We think, “Is ‘Just make it stop’ a powerful cry?”)

Seriously, Luanne asked herself “How can I support myself now?”

Here is some of her list:

  1. She knew this represented a condition that was moving through, something brief, and mutable.  Luanne had experienced this at another time and knew recovery soon follows.
  2. L reminded herself often that she stayed mobile. “Look at me, I am independent! Able bodied,” declared this courageous soul. Though slowed down by the ache in moving, L navigated steps, drove around, shopped.
  3. Alert, this dear woman remembered that pain is about tension—what relief could she offer herself right now?
    1. L opted to stop her daily walks.
    1. Since moving hurt, she bagged her yoga practice for a few days too.
  4. Luanne stuck to a food plan that focused on alkalinizing foods, one that had helped her in similar conditions in the past. (Our star spent a day or two enjoying food she did not normally consume, e.g almond butter, and relishing the indulgence.)
  5. L employed natural helpers such as essential oils, arnica, a homeopathic remedy, and Jin Shin Jyutsu Self Help.

Assists for Her Imagination

A friend offers her a treatment where that person had a vision about L and then shared it. In that vision there was a beautiful angel. This being saw Luanne’s aura full of light and added further illumination to it. L felt validated and strengthened by this and kept running this picture in her head.

Our heroine noticed that good stuff continued to flow to her despite all this discomfort. YAY!

Pain Relief

At first, she did not want to take an over-the-counter pain relief tablet. On the third day Luanne took one dose of aspirin. It helped beyond its specified time period.

Then the next day she took two doses in sequence, providing herself with relief for at least 10 hours. That brought ease, raised her spirits and seemed to accelerate her recovery.

Notice the Good Flowing Despite the Blip

Our Dear One conducted a group online which was a great hit. The members wanted to initiate meeting weekly instead of monthly. Happily L flowed with that success.

She enjoyed her phone calls, the online flirtations and interactions, the kindnesses, the in-person visits! The Good flowed steadily and abundantly to her all week 😊.

What are the “take-a-ways” here?

  1. Look for ways to relax: both in your body and in what you think.
  2. Consider slowing down.
  3. Appreciate as much as you can. (The Good is there to see for those who have the eyes!)
  4. Stay present and reaffirm the knowledge that Wellbeing Abounds.
  5. Use pain relief substances, as needed.
  6. Offer yourself a food plan that supports your recovery. Make sure there are treats included and indulge in some!
  7. Reach out for physical and moral support from friends and family.

Let’s awaken to how we can make some discomforts easier! Empowerment pays off! Please report on some of your parallel triumphs. Comment!
