Receive the Assistance: Momentum of Good

We can boost our spirits knowing that our Good has momentum. When we attend to living in the flow of life, to feeling good and noticing Good around us, more Good comes to us and in unexpected ways. As we practice catching ourselves in habits of thought, we get help. Isn’t this a benefit for which it is worth reaching! Read about one example.

Reaction in Tension

Lemonia had a new relationship with a man. Over the past few weeks she had asked this fellow to do her a favor at some inconvenience to himself. Then she had gotten some further information and realized she had another favor to ask.

“Oh my,” said L to herself internally, “Here I am imposing again. I feel a bit insecure and nervous. Will I be putting a strain on this connection with him?” Our star was almost wringing her hands.

Often this lovely woman is reaching for appreciating. At this moment, thought, she  reviewed options in agitation. In the process, L got wound up and further out of kilter.

Waking up a bit, Lemonia asked Spirit for some help. “Please help me calm down and get some perspective,” she prayed, still feeling rattled.

Surprise

The phone rang. The new friend called at his usual time with an unexpected message. He said, “Can I call you in an hour? I have to finish a project that has to be done tonite.”

“Sure,” she responded and hung up.

Sweet Relief

In a minute a wave broke inside L and she wept in relief, surprising herself.  Wow she had not known she had been so upset! The delay till she spoke with him felt like an intervention for clarity.

“Wait a minute! After crying I feel so much less afraid. I had been worrying and made a big deal in my mind,” realized she.

“Oh I see now relaxing is the way to go. I can trust that he will respond to me with graciousness and generosity. Silly me I had been afraid of judgment and harshness. The outdated attitude I fear is within me. He loves going with the flow!”

Then,  in another insight, she popped,  “Wow I got a reminder that letting down this defensive reaction is safe. Thank you!”

Our heroine had feelings bubble up from somewhere, felt them, and got help remembering her new habits of thought.

Take Away Points

  1. Pay attention to how we feel.
  2. When we notice feeling off, first, accept ourselves.
  3. Appreciate and breathe.
  4. Reach for what we love to think about.
  5. Allow momentum of Good to build.
  6. Receive assistance!
