Isn’t that an astonishing formulation? We have all been so trained to react over spilt milk.

Ok even after beginning play with new thinking like “I accept what is”, you may exclaim when you drop yogurt and it spills. Certainly, I know I still have a reaction. What comes next though? Where do I go with my mind after the shock?

I advocate playing with this– the “It’s ok”. Let me wipe up the yogurt and keep going. Let me remember all the Good flowing.

Preparing to write this article, I recalled a time when I attended college and a girlfriend and I were walking across campus. Maybe we had stopped to chat. All of a sudden a bird flew over us, and bird excrement landed right on my head. I immediately sat down on the ground, arms up to the sky and cried, ” Why me!” with great animation. We both roared with laughter. This “bad luck” got turned into a fun time and a memory that continues to bring me a chuckle even now.

For a number of years now I have been experiencing symptoms of swelling and tension in one of my legs. I have altered my exercising routine. These days I am playing with shifting my perspective on this phenomenon: how is this situation FOR me? What are the advantages from this condition I would not choose. I have been practicing and now can list many benefits.

For example:

  • In what I am doing to heal the condition, especially Feldenkrais, I am becoming physically and emotionally stronger than I have ever been.
  • I have greater balance and dexterity
  • I have more body confidence and agility
  • I discovered some locally manufactured shoes that are great for me.
  • I am learning to have a good time despite what kind of exercising I can do that day.
  • I am showing myself I am “fine” prior to the condition being entirely healed.
  • I am feeling Whole already as I am now.

Thereby, I am more grounded in my happy state. Feet on the ground, standing tall on my legs, I am more certain of my power to feel good.

Have you had an experience of making the best of a situation you do not prefer?

Have you been kept home by a storm, then had a great visit with a friend holding a warm drink for comfort?

Have you had a client cancel, giving you time to run an errand, take a nap or handle something that needed doing?

Have you had a fender bender and thereby got launched on a path to meet someone really worth meeting?

What fun to play the game of watching the evidence of Good show up from circumstances and events that you did not choose.

I want to hear what your report. Got some stories already? You may notice more after reading this. Please share a story or comment at jpearl@streamofyes.com.  Let’s show each other how all the episodes of our lives are FOR US!
